Soil sampling campaign in open tomato field

campagne de prélèvements de sols rhizosphériques  sur le site de production de tomate industrielle de l’entreprise SONITO
A collaboration begins between the EMMAH, SQPOV and PSH units of INRA Avignon.

Our objective is to study the impact of water stress (obtained by tow irrigation regimes) on the yield / quality (fresh and processed product) of tomatoes in fields, through the possible roles of the rhizosphere and its exopolysaccharides in the retention of soil water. A campaign of rhizosphere soil sampling was carried out at the beginning of August by the colleagues of EMMAH in the field (according to commercial practices) of industrial tomato production site of the company SONITO, involved in the collaboration. It was with the headlamp that we began sampling to complete them before the irrigation period and the hot weather. Back in the laboratory, the soil samples were sieved, and analyzes and measurements (moisture, microbial catabolism, exopolysaccharides, water retention and root mass ...) are in progress. Some of these samples are stored for further analysis in collaboration with colleagues from SQPOV and PSH.
