Research Teams

The GAFL Unit, Genetics and Breeding of fruit and vegetables, is composed by two teams :

  • The team ‘Diversity, Adaptation, Determinants and Innovation’ (DADI) is interested in Tomato and major Mediterranean kernel fruit productions which are apricot (Prunus armeniaca), peach (Prunus persica) and their rootstocks.  The team develops studies from basic research to the development of new varieties in partnership with the private sector, to participate in the design of sustainable agriculture. Researches focus on the genetic and genomic bases of fruit quality and resistances, the impact of environment and cultural management, the genetic diversity present in the collections conserved in the GRC and how to develop new varieties combining several disease resistances and fruit quality.
  • The two mains priorities of the team 'Resistance to Pest and Pathogens, Diversity and Durability' (ReDD) are :
    • to characterize new genetic targets in order to develop genetic resistances to pest and pathogens in plants
    • to better understand the relationships between the plants and those bio-aggressors, in order to improve the durability of genetic resistances.
