Mycophyto : concept innovant et partenariats scientifiques autour d un objectif : une agriculture 100% durable

Dans le cadre de l'animation scientifique de l'institut Sophia Agrobiotech, Vendredi 07 Juin à 11h, salle A10; Justine Lipuma, présidente de la start-up Mycophyto nous présentera les travaux menés en collaboration avec l'INRA et l'UCA (Benjamin David, Marion Giraud, Pia Parolin, Simon Saucet, Roch Violi, Christine Poncet)

Abstract

Mycophyto, is a spin-off from both INRA and UCA. The start-up seeks to optimize the cultivation of plants with indigenous mycorrhizal symbioses. Mycophyto develops highly specialized mycorrhizal mixtures which enhance the performance of plant growth and production, as well as their resistance to pests. This way, we optimize the natural biodiversity of soils to achieve a more robust and sustainable agricultural production which is also capable to adapt to changing environmental conditions.

Among the benefits of native mycorrhization for plant performance are a better assimilation of soil elements, an increase of nutrient status, growth, productivity and thus of plant vigour. The interaction with indigenous mycorrhiza species, as opposed to commercial ones, are proved to be particularly efficient.

In order to find which the best indigenous mycorrhizal symbiosis, we performed experiments in greenhouses and open fields, in Southern France. We tested growth, flower and fruit production as well as pest and drought resistance of commercially important, locally employed crop species, such as roses, lavender and tomatoes. We also cooperate closely with the local producers and technical institutes under real condition, and cross-check our hypotheses in scientific research institutes under experimental conditions.

To date, our results show that inoculation with a specific combinations and quantities of local, indigenous mycorrhiza statistically increases  all measured parameters in tomatoes (+15% fruits per plant), lavender (+30% growth), and perfume plants (enhanced pathogen protection and flower production)..

MYCOPHYTO seeks for more cooperation with local and international partners in agricultural production and is focused on a territorial anchoring with the local stakeholders. This includes hosting agreements, receiving and recruiting trainees, and linking up with educational teams to train the professionals of tomorrow. For all these reasons, Mycophyto will be a full partner of the joint technological unit FioriMed2 that will gather the research, development, education and innovation stakeholders rooted in the territory
